A fine day overall combining quality yellowtail and yellowfin tuna from various zones. Overall the pace on tuna is still down compared to the prior four weeks but as I frequently mention "success is always relative". By traditional Guadalupe standards the potential here is rock solid. And, consistent with the traditional expectation when making the run out here, quality is the real draw. Every bait that enters the water out here has high probability of producing a photo worthy catch. Combined with the setting there is nothing to compare. Which is exactly why we are investing at least one more day in "The Crucible" before considering other options. Today's image relates the tale. Long time Royal Star angler and friend David Sumethasorn, whom many will recognize as the current Pacific Queen cook, is all triumph after conquering this dandy yellowfin mid day in the flat calm lee.
