According to Captain Temo Verboonen, skipper of the Secuestro De Amor, the fishing has picked up considerably and the yellowfin tuna bite has been very good from the 12-40 mile zone. Most of the fish are in the 20-40 lb. range and finally, there is multiple schools of fish throughout the area. The few boats that are fishing are landing 10-15 yellowfin tuna each day and returning with happy anglers. Also in the mix is the opportunity at a sailfish or two for the day, but the billfish overall, have been very difficult to make bite. Inshore, the ongoing bite for the jack cravelle and bonito remains in full force and we are now starting to see a few more roosterfish show up in the area. As long as the sardines remain in the large schools, the inshore fishing should continue to be exciting.

IZ Climate: Mostly cloudy days with temps from 72 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Overall, much improved with temps from 77 inshore and rising to 82-83 offshore.

Best Fishing Area: Has been starting at about 12 miles offshore for the tuna and ranging out to as far as 40 miles.

Best Bait/Lure: The tuna action has been good on both, feathers, rapalas, poppers and live bait.

Bait Supply: Good supply of bait on hand.
