"Gaviota IV" was high boat for the week and also produced the biggest fish for the week, a 350 lb. blue marlin. Skippered by Captain Octavio Castillo, one of the area's better fishing skippers, they rounded out their catch with a released sailfish, 2 stripers, 1 dorado and 31 yellowffin tuna for their four fishing days. "Fish Cabo", skippered by Captain Gil Marquez, released a blue marlin at the 1150 fathom spot that was estimated at 250 to 300 lbs., taken on a green colored artificial. The overall combined fish counts reflected 2 blue marlin, (one released) 11 stripers, (10 released) 1 sailfish released, 12 dorado and 43 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days with lots of intermittent sunshine and temps that ranged from 74 nights to 99 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Pacific side mostly 78-81. Cool pocket of water from Cristobal down to Cabo Falso and out to the south about 12 miles at 74.Cabo is at 81 and the temps rise heading into the Sea of Cortez to 86-87 at the Gorda Banks. Mostly good blue water in the Sea of Cortez and greenish tinted on he Pacific side.

Best Fishing Area: It continues to be in a couple of areas, with some good reports from the 1150, about 28 miles from Cabo and at Cabeza Ballena, (Gray Rock)Chileno Bay area and out 3-5 miles offshore. Fathom area and from the

Best Bait/Lure: Live bait was best for the stripers and artificials best for the blue marlin. Yellowfin taken mostly on tuna feathers in assorted colors and the cedar plugs.

Live Bait Supply: Remains very good for the caballitos.
