Almost all of the fish caught this week were taken between the Cabo Falso Light House and Chileno Bay, a distance of about 6-7 miles and just minutes from the Cabo Harbor. In talking with Roberto Marquez, owner of the Fish Cabo sportfishers, he explained there is no lack of billfish throughout the area and they are seeing many marlin on every outing. The difficult situation continues to be getting them to bite and unless you get real lucky, the stripers just ignore the live baits, artificials, rigged baits, etc. , and flare-up a little and then, just sink out of sight. Historically, the stripers during March & April have always been very finicky biters and this year has been no different. I've often wondered if it's the marlin mating season where the stripers focus on love and not on biting the baits? Yellowfin tuna were the fish of the week for the offshore waters, albeit, most of the fish taken were in the 15-20 lb. ranges. The overall fish counts for a total of 13 days fished reflected 7 stripers released, 1 dorado, 1 mako shark, 4 Sierra and 26 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo Climate:
Mostly sunny and warm days with a few passing clouds and temps that ranged from 60 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:
Changing by the day! Pacific side, from shore to 10 miles out is mostly 68-70 degrees. From the Jaime Bank and out across the 1000 fathom curve, temps rise to 71-72. From Cabo San Lucas to Gorda Banks, from shore to about 10 miles off, temps at 71-72.

Best Fishing Area:
Cabo Falso to Chileno Bay for both, stripers and tuna.

Best Lure/Bait:
All billfish taken on live bait, (caballitos). Tuna taken primarily on feathers & cedar plugs.

Live bait Supply:
Difficult during the early part of the week but much better late in the week, mostly caballitos at this time.
