THE PUERTO MORELOS FISHING REPORT FOR THE MARINA EL CID SPORTFISHING FLEET, CANCUN TO COZUMEL AREA

The sailfish season has started from Puerto Morelos and now adds a new flavor to the mixed bag catches from this Caribbean port. They are early this year and perhaps this is just the prelude to what is going to happen come the peak season, in May? It was another busy week for the Marina El Cid Fishing Fleet from Puerto Morelos and reflected a total of 40 fishing days and a 13 fish variety in the reports. The overall catches for the fleet reflected 8 sailfish, 12 dorado, 16 tuna, 10 king mackerel3 Wahoo, 7 bonito, 6 Atlantic barracuda, 6 Spanish mackerel, 38 snapper, 19 triggerfish, 13 soapfish and 23 grouper.

PM Climate:
Partly cloudy days with intermittent periods of lots of sunshine and warm days and comfortable evenings. Temps from 67 nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:
Mostly favorable with light & variable tropical surface winds with stable sea temps at 80 degrees.

Best Bait/Lure:
No changer, here. It continues to be the ballyhoo, both the rigged and un-rigged varieties, both from the surface outriggers and the downriggers.

Bait Supply:
Continues to be most plentiful and fresh on a daily basis.
