The bite near the Soquel Hole was spotty for the anglers who worked that area. There was one boat at 36'50/121'57 who had 4 fish trolling 300 feet down. The fleet was around the Black Buoy and Mulligans. The best reports from the Buoy were from 2-3 fish trolling near the bottom. There were some better reports at 36'42/121'51 and 36'46/121'51 where there was a good school of fish being caught. The fish ranged from keepers to 32 pounds. There were a few fish caught at 36'49/121'53 in the afternoon trolling down 160-220 feet. This is a good sign that the month of June will be a good one. The water was nice all morning but there was some afternoon wind. The best lures were the Blue Kajikis, Purple Haze Kajikis, Red Krocodiles, Krippled Herring, and Glow Green Anchovies. The wind died around 3:30 in the afternoon and a crew of Halibut anglers went to go try their luck now. There were some nice Halibut caught today near the Harbor and near Capitola in 40-60 feet of water. The Rockcod fishing was great in Monterey with early limits reported but Ano Nuevo had too much wind. The few boats who tried to get there came back toward Santa Cruz. There were some good reports of Rockcod from South Rock and Natural Bridges. The winds are expected to be light in the morning and evening on Sunday.
