The Atlantic barracuda was the fish of the week for the Puerto Morelos region and reflected fish up to 39 lbs. The overall catches for the past 14 days reflected a mixed bag of 9 different fish for an average of 6.3 fish per boat fished day that included 2 blackfin tuna, 20 bonito, 11 snapper, 12 grouper, 17 triggerfish, 6 amberjack, 8 banana fish, 4 Spanish mackerel and 21 Atlantic barracuda. The Port was closed for two of the day dues to high winds and rough weather conditions and rain squalls.

PM Climate:
Warm evenings and hot, humid days that ranged from 73 nights to 91 daytime highs with scattered thunderstorms and rain on Wednesday, 09/07/11.

Sea Conditions:
Light & variable surface winds this week with sea temps holding stable at 87 degrees throughout the area.

Best Bait/Lure:
The ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice and remains plentiful and readily available from this are on a daily basis. The boats are using the baits in a skirted rig and natural, both on the surface outriggers and in downriggers.
