Both San Pedro and Newport barges received loads of live squid this morning 5/25. Newport has some killer cured sardines that have been in the barge for a month, as well as small to medium size anchovies. San Pedro has small to medium size anchovies and sardines as well.

As far as fishing goes, some highlights of the past week to ten days has been the good numbers of "coastal tanker" seabass caught up and down the coast on bird/anchovy schools. The majority of the fish have been between forty to sixty pounds!! The preferred method is a live squid, or two or three, with a 1/4 oz. sliding sinker and large hook like an owner aki 7/0 - 8/0. Most of these fish have been taken in sixty to one hundred twenty foot depth range anywhere from Huntington Beach to La Jolla. I wouldn't pass up any bird schools you see anywhere between these areas!!

The Newport Barge is open 24/7 and can be reached on Ch 79 on the VHF or call direct 310-461-5370 or direct connect 124*68731*2.

The San Pedro Barge's hours are Mon-Thurs 5 am - 5 pm and returnung Friday 5 am - Sunday 5 pm. They can be reached on Ch 11 on the VHF or call direct 310-365-2516.

Good luck and good fishing!!
