The overall fishing action is starting to slow up with each passing week as the water temps start their annual change, both in temperature and clarity. Seems like we are losing 1-2 degrees each week now, which is normal, but this past week, we also had the full moon to contend with which also has dramatic effects on Cabo's fishing results, too. The overall fish counts for the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet & Fish Cabo Fleet, reporting in for a total of 16 days fished, reflected 9 stripers released, 21 dorado, 3 yellowfin tuna, 5 skipjack tuna and 28 Sierra. The schools of tuna have all but disappeared and I would guess that was the result of the arrival of purse seiners this past week?

Cabo Climate: Warming up by the day with temps ranging from 58 nights to 85 daytime highs and mostly cloudy conditions.

Sea Conditions: Pacific side, Golden Gate Bank to Jaime Banks at 72, San Cristobal to Cabo San Lucas holding at 74-75. Warmest waters are south of Cabo Falco and outside the 1000 fathom curve, rising to 76 degrees. Cabo San Lucas to Gorda Banks at 72 and falling to 70 above the Gorda Banks. Surface winds mostly light and variable with occasional 10-15 mph surface breezes. Mostly off color greenish tinted water surrounding Cabo with the blue water out to the south of the peninsula and starting at about the 1000 fathom curve.

Best Fishing Area: The billfish are scattered with the better fishing reported from the Migrino to Pozo de Cota areas on the Pacific side.

Best Lures/Bait: Live bait was best, by far, for the billfish. Dorado were about 50-50.

Live Bait Supply: Remained good through the full moon phase and all caballitos.
