ROCK SPRINGS-- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking the public for their help in finding the person or persons responsible for illegally killing a buck mule deer that has been frequenting the area surrounding Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.
Rock Springs Game Warden Dave Hays said the dead deer was discovered on October 31 and the deer had probably been dead for ten days before it was discovered. Hays said only the skull cap with antlers was taken and the cause of death is still undetermined.
"This deer was seen by many people," Hays said. "I ask that anyone who took photos of this deer to please email them to me at the warden station to help me better identify the antlers should they surface somewhere with someone. I am specifically looking for photographs taken at close range from the front, including the head and antlers of the deer. My email address is dave.hays@wyo.gov"
Anyone with information on this or any wildlife violation may call the Stop Poaching Hotline at 1-877-WGFD-TIP. Tips may be reported online at wgfd.wyo.gov Tips may also be reported to the Green River Game and Fish Office at-1-307-875-3223, or game warden Dave Hays at 1-307-382-6602. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 if the information leads to a conviction.
