Our first charter of the year aboard the PACIFIC DAWN out of VENTURA SPORTFISHING was a great success, we had Captains Dustin aka. Skinny and Mike aka. Man Dog doing the driving with Fernando and Hunter on deck and Keenan in the galley. For this trip we would be heading to the west end of Santa Rosa Island, we would be targeting rockfish and lingcod, we arrived and started fishing around 6 am. The rockfish were soon flying over the rail, the dropper loop anglers were fairing better than the jigs were. Although the anglers managed limits of rockfish also, it took us a little longer. After limits of rockfish we headed for shallower waters to look for lingcod. The lingcod were hard to entice on this trip, with a few coming on jigs and plastics, the most success for the lingcod was via a live mackeral. The day ended with getiing limits of some very nice quality rockfish and 20 lingcod, 3 cabezon and 1 whitefish, and a very satisfied group of anglers. We have more charters scheduled aboard the Pacific Dawn, you can go to the SFR Charter page of the website for more details and to reserve your spots. You can also check out all the charters we have scheduled for this season and reserve spots.
