According to Captain Temo Verboonen, our on location reporter, the weather has improved considerably and the sea conditions are much, much better, following the passing of Hurricane Blanca. The sailfish are biting very well, starting at no more than a mile off the beach and we also have a confirmed report of an occasional blue marlin being landed, too. According to Captain Chiro Barragan, owner/operator of the "Bloody Hook", the Mr. & Mrs. Breden, husband and wife team, landed a 300 lb. blue marlin on Monday. The Roosterfish are biting along Playa Larga Beach, just nest to the airport and overall, especially coupled with the weather improvements, we are looking forward to a terrific fishing week.
IZ Climate: Air Temps varied from 74 nights to 91 daytime highs and a 63 humidity level. It was a mostly cloudy week with off and on rain from Thursday thru Saturday.
Sea Conditions: Sea temps holding stable at 84-85 from inshore to offshore and excellent clarity from about a mile offshore. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the westerly directions that ranged from light to about 11 mph. Overall, very fishable without the effects of Hurricane Blanca.
Best Fishing Area: Sailfish are starting to bite very well at he 1 mile mark outside the Bay, at the beginning of the clean, blue water. Roosterfish are biting in the Playa Larga Beach, adjacent to the Zihuatanejo Airport area.
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged trolling baits working very well for the sailfish and live bait is working very well for the roosterfish.
Bait Supply: The rigged baits are readily available for the charters and the live bait is also available at the rate of $5.00 per dozen.
