Captain Temo Verboonen offered a truly upbeat fishing scenario for this past week in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, and basically said, the fish are really biting very well and everyday. The dorado are all nice quality fish in the 25-35 lb. ranges, the sailfish are eager and many and the waters in general are near perfect, not only calm, but good temperatures, too. The inshore fishing remains red-hot with good catches of Spanish mackerel, (sierra) and big jack cravele, along with rainbow runners and big eye jacks at the rocks and of course, the roosterfish are still readily available and biting very well on both, live bait and pencil poppers.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 72 nights to 92 daytime highs and a bit humid.

Sea Conditions: Near perfect, good overall stable temps throughout the area, holding at 87-88 degrees, excellent clarity and calm.

Best fishing area: Almost all the fish are within a few miles of the Zihuatanejo Bay entrance, with sailfish starting at just 5 miles.

Bait Supply: Remains very good for both, mullet and caballitos (goggle eyes)
