Charters were almost non-existent in Mazatlan this past week and the
offshore fishing report was reflected for only 3 fishing days that
produced 2 sailfish and 8 dorado for their efforts. The inshore
super pangas, reporting for 4 days fished, reflected 17 dorado for
their efforts. The "Aries IX", skippered by Captain Gilberto
Quintero, had a 2 sailfish day on 09/2/09 and was high boat for the
week, albeit, only 3 days were fished offshore.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy with temps from 75 nights to 94
daytime highs and humid.
Sea Conditions: Very favorable, mostly calm, temps from 86-87
degrees throughout the offshore waters.
Best Fishing Area: With only a single boat fishing for 3 days, no
specific area was identified as being best.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged mullet baits produced the billfish and dorado
in the offshore waters & live bait was best for the dorado at the
buoys.
