It’s still game on. The salmonflies have petered out but there are still a few golden stones, lots of Yellow Sallys, caddisflies and PMDs. It’s busy but there is plenty of great fishing to go around. For dry flies I recommend tan or olive X-Caddis, E-Z Caddis, PMD Cripple, my Yellow Sally, and Chubbies. I also like my Foam Stone Golden in size 14 and 16. Too small you say. Give these a try, you’ll be glad you did. The nymph game is always productive. Standard nymphs like Prince, Pheasant Tail, and G. R. Hare’s Ear still work as good as they did when I was guiding on the Madison exactly 50 years ago. The newer tungsten, jig bead nymphs and Bullet Quill also good. Pat’s Rubberlegs in size 8 or 10 and olive or brown Zebra Nymphs are also productive.
