Cutthroat trout get aggressive in the spring as they prepare to spawn and can be effectively caught with various flies (streamers, egg patterns), lures (spinners, Rapalas), and jigs (marabou, tubes). Individual fish spawn at various times, so there will always be a few fish in prespawn aggression mode or postspawn feeding mode.
