Fishing for crappie will pick up later in the spring as the fish move into shallow water to spawn. For crappie, try fishing a small 1/8-ounce jig tipped with a piece of worm under a bobber. Yellow perch can also be caught in the spring, fishing a worm under a bobber or on the bottom in shallow water. Fishing for largemouth bass and bluegill will pick up as the water warms, especially in the afternoons. For bluegill, try fishing a small hook, tipped with a piece of worm, under a bobber. Casting and retrieving spinnerbaits and plastics and suspending crankbaits, parallel to shore, can be an effective way to catch largemouth bass.
