THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET

The offshore fishing remained difficult again this week even though a few more stripers showed up in the counts. There was a huge area of greenish tinted water throughout the entire area that may be the underlying reason for the slow bite in the offshore water? The temps are good and continue to be stable at 76-77, but perhaps the clarity is where the difficulty lies? Just don't know and I'm only guessing. The combined fish counts for 27 offshore fishing days reflected 5 stripers, 6 mako shark, 4 dorado and 1 yellowfin tuna. The inshore fishing for 9 days reflected 34 toro, (30 released) 85 roncachos, limits of mojarres and 44 cochitos. So, again this week, the action was still inshore for the anglers.

Mazatlan Climate: A few clouds but mostly sunny and warm days with temps from 56 nights to 83 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Pretty flat this week with temps from 70-71 inshore and rising to 76-77 offshore at about 15 miles and beyond, but all with a green tint to it.

Best Fishing Area: None reported as the boats fished numerous areas and directions.
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits were by far the best for the billfish and mako shark, too.

The only boat in our fleet that landed marlin this week was the "Gaviota IV", with...... Read More
