Captain Temo Verboonen reports that the billfish bite remains a little slow but the yellowfin tuna action continues to be very good in the 18-20 mile zone. There is still an occasional sailfish being taken in this same area and all of the tuna strikes are blind jig or rigged bait strikes with breezing fish and no porpoise. The boats are still getting 4-6 strikes per day with the tuna in the 20-30 lb. ranges. The inshore action continues to be very good for the big jack cravelle, (aka toros) Spanish mackerel, (aka Sierra) and bonito. It has been fast action with the boats running on the fish as they pop up, chasing bait balls, then casting into the melee. Live bait, luna lures, ranger lures and pencil poppers all working well on spinning tackle.

IZ Climate:
Sunny days with a few passing clouds and temps that range from a warm 72 evenings and nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:
Warmer water and improved clarity have helped to keep the fishing action going. Inshore temps at 83 degrees and rising to 84-85 degrees just 3-4 miles offshore and staying stable on out from there. Fairly clean water at the 18-20 miles mark with a light greenish tinge to it.

Best Fishing Area:
Continues to be in the 18-20 mile mark and beyond for the offshore fishing.

Bait Supply:
Remains readily availabble for both, live bait and fresh rigged baits.
