While another slow charter week for the boats, the fishing was actually pretty good coming into the full moon with a 75% billfish catch rate and a couple of dorado per boat per day to round-out the catches. Only four boats fished from the Aries Fleet through the week that landed 3 sailfish, 1 mako shark and 8 dorado for the offshore waters. The inshore super pangas reported in for 3 days fished that reflected 28 dorado for their efforts, just two fish short of limit fishing around the buoys.

Mazatlan Climate:
Mostly cloudy days with scattered PM & night showers with temps from 74 nights to 86 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:
Calm seas with light and variable surface breezes flowing gently from the north and sea temps that ranged from 85-87 degrees and stable throughout the area.

Best Fishing Area:
No specific area as the fish were scattered catches throughout the days for the offshore fishing with the super pangas fishing mostly at the buoys.

Best Bait/Lure:
Sailfish all taken on rigged trolling baits as well as a few dorado, too. Live bait was best for the dorado but they also bit on rapalas and poppers, too.

Bait Supply:
Continues to be very good for this area with both, live bait and dead trolling baits.

Rounding out the catch was 8 yellowfin tuna in the 18-35 lb. ranges. Both billfish and the yellowifin tuna were caught right out in front of Cabo San...... Read More
