An incredibly busy and fun fishing week from Puerto Morelos that provided an enormous mixed-bag variety catch of 14 species of fish and our best report for the year so far. Dorado were the fish of the week and came in some quality sizes to 65 lbs. The Mr. Pillon and son, fishing aboard the "Aries VIII" had a pair of dorado that were at the 105 lb. mark, a 65 pounder and a 40 pounder, along with several in the 20 lb. ranges. The overall catches for 41 days fished reflected 10 sailfish, 58 dorado, 18 blackfin tuna, 35 atlantic barracuda, 1 king mackerel, 12 wahoo, 47 bonito 24 Spanish mackerel, (Sierra) 2 banana fish, 6 triggerfish, 3 grouper, 1 snapper, 2 sharks and 6 amberjacks. The month of March is usually just the beginning of the billfish season that tends to peak in May/June, but this area has been producing a few sailfish almost on a weekly basis for the past couple of months and has all of the appearances of being a banner billfish season.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy but nice warm days and evenings with temps ranging from 68 nights to 86 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: A much improved conditions this past week with mostly light and variable surface breezes in the 5-15 mph ranges and sea temps that were stable at 80 degrees throughout the area.

Best Bait/Lure: The ballyhoo continue to be the bait of choice for this area and are provided fresh on a daily basis for all of the boats.

Bait Supply: There continues to be an excellent supply of fresh ballyhoo baits on a daily basis.
