According to Captain Temo Verboonen, the fishing is "red-hot" in the Zihuatanejo area, and offering an excellent sailfish bite and very good dorado bite, all starting at about 10 miles from the shoreline. Trolling baits and clear colored arttificials were working very well for both the billfish and dorado. The inshore fishing remains excellent for big roosterfish and huge jack crevalle. Some of the roostefish are in the 60-80 lb. class and the jacks are consistently in the 20-plus ranges. Overall, the area has superb conditions for anglers for both offshore and inshore opportunities.

IZ Climate: Temps ranging from 70 nights to 90 daytime highs and mostly light and variable surface breezes flowing in from the westerly directions. Some scattered showers at night.

Sea Conditions: Near perfect! Clarity is blue as it gets and temps are very stable in the 85-86 degree temp ranges.

Best Fishing Areas: The offshore fishing starts at the 10 mile mark and outbound from there. The inshore fishing is best in the are around the mouth of the Valentin River.

Best Bait/Lures: Rigged trolling baits and clear/transparent artificials working well for the offshore fishing and producing good results. The inshore action has been good on live bait and ranger lures in several colors.

Bait Supply: Remains excellent in the I/Z area for both, live baitand fresh rigging baits.
