Captain Temo Verboonen reported there are two distinct groups of fish in two different areas with one near the 9-10 mile mark and the other at about 30 miles or so. The yellowfin tuna have moved to the 40-plus mile mark and getting close to being out of range for an extended charter fishing day. While there is still a few marlin and sailfish being caught, the numbers of anglers and trips have fallen way off this past week and the overall fish counts have diminished, accordingly. The inshore fishing continues to be on the slow side with the cooler, greener water, producing only sample catches of Sierra, a few bonito and an occasional jack crevalle.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy but warm and pleasant days with pleasant nights and temps that ranged from 70 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Cool and green water inshore with temps at 78-80 but warming in the offshore waters to 82-84 degrees and offering clear blue water at about 15 miles and beyond. Surface breezes rolling in from the SW at 10-15 mph with light wind chop but very little swell action.

Best Fishing Area: In the 9-10 mile mark, the boats are scoring an occasional sailfish and blue marlin. Seems like the better fishing results were coming from the 30-mile mark as the clarity is much better and the fish bite is more active.

Best Bait/Lure: The billfish have been best on the rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Excellent for both, fresh rigging baits and live bait.
