The sailfish has begun their summer season of aerial action for the anglers. It has been n interesting early summer season and Mazatlan has encompassed it's share of the windy & rough water conditions that resulted in 3 port closure days this past week and another low pressure area is on it's way up the line that may bring more wind and rain, too. We'll see as the next week progresses. We are still missing the high dorado counts for this area that usually show up from about the 3rd week in May. Perhaps still coming but certainly overdue. This past week for the offshore waters reflected 11 days fished that produced 2 stripers and 16 sailfish, (6 released) and 1 dorado. There was only one super panga fishing day that also fished offshore for a single striper and 12 yellowfin tuna.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy days with a little intermittent sunshine, temps that varied from 75 nights to 91 daytime highs and scattered thunder showers on Wednesday & Thursday.

Sea Conditions: Finally settling down with surface breezes at 10-15 mph. Sea temps holding well from 84 to 85 degrees and good clarity from about 12-14 miles or so.

Best Lure/Bait: The freshly caught/rigged trolling baits continue to perform very well for the anglers for the billfish action.

Best Fishing Area: Continues to be out to the south and southwest of the Marina El Cid, starting at about 15 miles.

Bait Supply: Continues to be plentiful for both, live bait and freshly caught mullet for rigging baits.
