Captain Temo Verboonen sends his finest of fish reports and ads, Wednesday was their first day of rain for their area, the starting of the summer rainy season. The fishing this past week was beyond excellent with sunny & warm days and an unbelievable fish bite for both, inshore and offshore action. The offshore action was pretty close, starting at about 8 miles out front of the Bay and was producing many, many sailfish strikes, along with an occasional blue marlin here and there. Adding to the great offshore bite was the inshore catches of roosterfish, Sierras, bonito, jacks and dorados, particularly in the are near Valentin River. The only downside to this really amazing fish bite was the lack of anglers to participate in the fun.

IZ Climate: Mostly sunny for the first part of the week and changing to a rainy day on Wednesday with cloudy skies. Temps varied from 73 nights to 92 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Remain very good with temps holding at 87 inshore and rising to 88 offshore. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the southerly directions at calm to 9 mph. Excellent clarity in the billfish areas at about 7.5 miles and beyond.

Best Fishing Areas: The offshore bite is right at the 8-mile mark and the inshore hot spot continues at Valentin River.

Best Bait/Lures: The sailfish are eager on the rigged baits & smaller artificials, even live bait and the blue marlin liking the bigger artificials and bigger rigged baits. Roosterfish biting well on the poppers and live bait, as are the jack crevalle. Sierras & Bonitos biting on the smaller flashy lures.

The Bait Supply: Remains excellent for live bait and fresh baits for rigging.
