A little slower on the sailfish bite this past week but also much slower on the numbers of charter, too. However, the wide variety catches remained available for the anglers and as always, offering up something different for each bite. Puerto Morelos continues to lead all of the different fishing ports for variety fishing and this week was no different, reflecting a 14 fish variety in the catch reports that included 4 sailfish, 26 bonito, 3 Spanish mackerel, 2 blackfin tuna, 7 giant barracuda, 2 dorado, 1 needle fish, 21 snappers, 5 sop fish, 22 triggerfish, 19 banana fish, 5 strawberry fish and 1 pilot fish for a total of 19 days fished.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy but warm days and some humidity. Temps reflected 76 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Near excellent with temps at 85 al over and light surface breezes mostly from the easterly directions that ranged from calm to 12 mph.

Best Bait: The ballyhoo baits continue to be the bait of choice for all of the anglers and crews.

Bait Availability: The amazing everyday availability of the ballyhoo supply in this area provides an unending supply of fresh baits for rigging, cut baits, filleted strips, etc., depending on the type of fish being sought after.
