Captain Temo Verboonen, owner/skipper of the Secuestro de Amor, reports phenomenal fishing this past week, starting at just a mile outside the Zihuatanejo Bay. Big schools of quality sized dorados were eager to bite and provided easy limit fishing and just another couple miles farther out was an excellent bite on sailfish and even a few blue marlin. The inshore action has been steadily improving for roosterfish, Sierras, jack crevalle, bonito and even a few wahoo, all following the schools of sardines along the coast line. It's just been a fantastic fishing week and accompanied by picture perfect weather.
IZ Climate: Temps ranged from 70 nights to 87 daytime highs and an 83% humidity level. It was a sun/cloud mixed week and finally, no rain or wind. Excellent fishing weather and conditions.
Sea Conditions: Inshore to offshore stable at 85 degrees. Surface breezes gently flowing from the westerly directions from calm to 7-8 mph.
Best Fishing Area: Starting at just a mile outside the Bay and extending outbound for several miles, offering good dorado catches, sailfish and a few marlin.
Best Lure/Bait: Artificials, live bait and rigged baits working well for the dorado. Rigged baits hot for sailfish. Live bait for the roosterfish & jack crevalles.
Bait Supply: excellent supply of fresh baits for rigging, included in the cost of the charters and live bait at $5.00 per dozen.

A little frustration for the anglers and the crew. Drop backs were not working and it appeared to be isolated single fish. However,...... Read More
