THE PUERTO MORELOS FISHING REPORT FOR THE MARINA EL CID SPORTFISHING FLEET, (CANCUN TO COZUMEL AREA)

Near perfect climate and sea conditions this past week added to a very good fishing week for the fleet that included a couple of off-season sailfish in the mixed bag catches. The dorado bite continues this past week as did the snapper bite off the bottom. The overall fish counts for a total of 58 fishing days reflected 2 sailfish, 34 dorado, 13 giant barracuda, 1 Spanish mackerel, 34 bonito, 4 wahoo, 5 amberjack, 110 snappers, (the fish of the week) 27 triggerfish, 77 chac-chi and 11 banana fish, offering a 5-plus fish per boat average for the fleet. According to our on-the-spot reporter for the Marina El Cid Fleet, Ms. Jessica Ortega, "it was a wonderful week for the anglers that provided good action and excellent weather."

PM Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days with a few passing clouds and temps that varied from 68 nights to 86 daytime highs and a 69% average humidity level.

Sea Conditions: Tropical surface breezes were flowing in gently from the easterly directions at about a 9 mph average. Sea temps were holding stable and remained at 80-81 degrees throughout the area from inshore to offshore waters.

Best Bait: The continuous availability of the freshly caught ballyhoo continue to be the bait of choice for the anglers, the crews and the fish, too.

Bait Supply: Excellent! Fresh caught ballyhoo baits are provided on a daily basis as part of the charter package and the crews prepare the baits for the targeted species.
