Trinity Lake - Trinity Center, CA

Lake Information

Fish Species: Chinook Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon
Trinity Lake, located near Trinity Center, CA, is a vast 17,000-acre reservoir offering premier multi-species angling. Its clear, rocky waters support thriving populations of smallmouth and largemouth bass, rainbow and brown trout, kokanee salmon, catfish, and landlocked Chinook salmon.

Bass fishing is strong from spring through summer, with smallmouth favoring rocky points and largemouth occupying submerged structure. Trolling is highly effective for kokanee and trout, especially in deeper areas during warm months. Landlocked Chinook provide a challenging and rewarding target for experienced anglers.

The lake’s extensive shoreline, multiple marinas, and well-maintained boat ramps make access easy for all types of anglers. Houseboat rentals and lakeside resorts make it ideal for extended trips.

Trinity Lake’s size allows anglers to find solitude even during busy seasons. Clear water and variable depths demand finesse techniques and proper use of electronics, especially when targeting deeper fish.

Well-stocked, diverse, and surrounded by natural beauty, Trinity Lake is one of Northern California’s top-tier fisheries, offering year-round angling opportunities for both casual and serious fishermen.

Access to Trinity Lake is excellent, with multiple marinas, boat launches, and campgrounds throughout the shoreline, including popular sites like Trinity Center Marina and Fairview Campground. Houseboat rentals, resorts, and RV parks are available, making it a full-service recreational destination.

Despite its popularity, the lake's size helps distribute fishing pressure. Even during peak summer months, anglers can find quiet coves and remote stretches to fish in solitude.
