Fishing forecast (December through May): Safe ice usually forms in late December and lasts until late March. Trout are very active right after ice-on and usually provide good to excellent fishing along the dam. Anglers should use extreme caution and be aware of best practices for ice safety. Heavy fishing pressure eventually causes this fast fishing to slow down as some fish get less active and others move away from easily accessible areas. Cutthroat trout will stay in the shallows, while splake can be found in deeper water.
