THE MARINA EL CID, CANCUN TO COZUMEL AREA

The wide variety smorgasbord action continues at Puerto Morelos and the anglers are seriously enjoying the warm, tropical climate conditions, especially those that are arriving from the snow-belt states. One of the anglers commented that the wide spectrum of fish make the overall experience fun and very different from the many areas that offer primarily big game fish as the target for the day. Overall combined catches for eleven days fished reflected a variety of 9 species that included 14 Atlantic barracuda, 1 wahoo, 2 red snapper, 4 triggerfish, 26 bonito, 3 grouper, 9 jack cravelle, 2 yellowfin tuna and 1 king mackerel.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy but warm days, temps from 70 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Mostly light and variable tropical surface breezes, temps stable at 81 degrees.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged and un-rigged ballyhoo continue to be the bait of choice.

Bait Supply: We have never experienced a bait supply problem in this area, even during full moon conditions.
