Very little change from last week, albeit, there was a couple of
billfish in the report this week, a blue marlin, (under 250 lbs.)
taken aboard the "Aries I" and a sailfish, taken aboard the "Aries
III". Like Cabo, the lack of anglers was evident by the lack of
fishing days reflected. Overall counts for a total of 12 days fished
reflected 1 blue marlin 1 sailfish, 7 dorado and 1 yellowfin tuna.
However, the inshore bite did offer constant action on a variety of
fish that included 15 sierra, 38 pargo, 39 mojarres, 49 cochitos, 4
toro and 15 barracuda for 4 inshore fishing days.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with good periods of bright and
warm sunshine, temps from 56 nightts to 85 daytime hihgs.
Sea Conditions: Excellent, clean waters, out to about 40 miles, with
temps stable at 80-81 degrees.
Best Fishing Area: Fish continue to be scattered throughout the area
with no concentration.
Best Bait/Lure: Slow trolled rigged mullet were best for billfish
and dorado.

The current thought is the season is delayed due to the pending "El Nino" probabilities and should that prove true, then we should begin to see a better billfish bite that goes through the March-April time frame. We'll see how that rationale develops very soon....... Read More
