Captain Temo Verboonen's weekly fish report stated that the inshore
fishing was best this past week from Zihuatanejo and the fish were
pretty active around the white rocks at Potosi. The bite was really
good on the poppers, especially red & white, enticing many strikes
from the bigeye jacks and jack cravelle and even a few grouper in the
mix. One of the super pangas reported a 50 lb. snook that was taken
with live bait, fishing the rocks and there was more action in the
Potosi Bay area, between the White Rocks and the beach. Temo said
there were schools of jack cravelle throughout the Potosi Bay area
and were busy chasing bait that was flowing from the river mouths.
While there was still an occasional roosterfish, they were not eager
to bite and appeared to be full of the easy live bait availability.
The offshore waters are greenish to about 15-16 miles, then bluing.
For the few boats that did fish the offshore waters, the billfish
bite was good for sails and marlin. The dorado have not yet entered
the catching phase but will soon, especially with the floating
debris. All in all, it remains good fishing, calm water and very few
anglers to take advantage of the action.
IZ Climate: Mostly cloudy days with scattered T-Storms, mostly in the PMs and night, with temps that ranged from 71 nights to 91 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: It's been mostly calm waters with very light tropical surface breezes and stable temps at 83 inshore and rising to 85 offshore. Greenish tint to about 15-16 miles, then bluing to fishable waters for bbillfish.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged trolling baits working best for the billfish. Live bait and poppers working best for the inshore fishing.
Bait Supply: Good supply for both, rigged baits and live bait.
