An interesting week for fishing from Mazatlan, with the boats only fishing on 4 days due to a lack of anglers. On the flip-side of this slow fishing period, the offshore catches shot up and the inshore action reported the catch of a couple of snook, (the first we have reported in several years). The offshore waters produced 5 sailfish, 7 yellowfin tuna and 1 dorado for a total of 8 days fished and the inshore fishing for only a single outing reflected 2 black snook, 3 corvina and 2 pargo. According to Geronimo Cevallos, the offshore fishing is starting to look pretty good for a change and should just continue to get better and better as we go into the prime fishing period of November-December. This past week, we saw good offshore action with the sailfish and while the numbers weren't so high, all of the boats had opportunities at sailfish and given the full moon condition, the overall action should continue to build over the next few weeks.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny with intervals of clouds. Temps from 69 nights to 88 daytime highs and light surface breezes in the 5-10 knot ranges.

Sea Conditions: The inshore waters were greenish tinted and at 82 degrees. At 10-12 miles, the water clarity changed to a clean greenish tint and 84 degrees and the farther out, the cleaner and bluer the water became.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the boats were fishing out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid at about 18-15 miles or so.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits were best for the sailfish and feathers for the yellofin tuna which were running with the porpoise.

Bait Supply: Remained very good for both, rigged baits and live bait.
