To say the least, it was an interesting fishing week from Mazatlan
that reflected the first wahoo of the year and 7 black snook in the
report. The wahoo, (about 30 lbs.) is the first in more than a year
and the black snook, (Robalo) (in the 36-40" ranges) are an unusually
rare catch for this area The overall inshore catches for a total of
7 days fished aboard the super pangas, reflected 7 black snook, 12
corvina, 13 pargo, 10 barracuda, 15 mojarres, 2 palometas and 26
roncachos. The offshore fishing for a total of 12 days fished
reflected 1 blue marlin, (estimated at 275 lbs.) 6 sailfish, 1 wahoo
and 1 dorado.
Mazatlan Climate: Excellent. Mostly sunny and warm with a few passing clouds and temps from 67 nights to 88 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Improving by the day. 78 degrees inshore and rising to 81-82 offshore. Water is greenish to 5 miles and then comes to clean green and bluing at about 12 miles.
Best Fishing area: The billfish are not yet concentrated in any location and the boats are scattered over a wide area.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits working best for the fillfish.
Bait Supply: Remains very good for this area.
