The offshore fishing is really much better than the report reflects and with the full moon condition out of the way, should start back up again, especially for the sailfish. The numbers of charters continues to be a bit slow at this time of year and boat selection remains very good for the anglers for both, inshore or offshore fishing. This past week's report for the offshore areas reflected a total of 11 days fished that produced 6 sailfish, 3 yellowfin tuna, (to about 25 lbs.) and 13 dorado, (mostly in the 12-20 lb. ranges). The inshore super pangas reported in for 3 days fished that reflected 6 roosterfish, (released) 1 mako shark and 6 dorado.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with a chance for PM showers and light & variable tropical surface breezes. Temps ranged from 74 nights to 94 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Excellent sea temps holding at 86-88 degrees throughout the area. Clarity continues to be very good in the offshore waters. Almost no swell and light & variable surface breezes, just enough to break the daytime heat.
Best Fishing Area: The better fishing area for the offshore waters was out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, beginning at about he 18 mile mark and outbound from there.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits worked best for the sailfish and the bigger dorado. Tuna were taken on feathers.
Bait Supply: Remains very good for this area for live bait and fresh rigging baits.
