Anglers have found that most of the offshore action is almost close enough to the Bay be called inshore fishing. According to Captain Temo Verboonen, the sailfish and dorado are still providing all day action for the anglers starting at about 5 miles from the Bay and outbound a ways from there. The inshore action for roosterfish and jack crevalle continues to be productive and has been especially good for the spinning tackle anglers using surface poppers. Sea life is everywhere with lots of bait and birds in all directions, extending from inshore to offshore. There are so few anglers now that most of the boats are going through their annual maintenance programs and getting ready for the fall fishing season.

IZ Climate: Constant changing weather at this time of year with some windy and rough days and others are flat-calm. It's still the rainy season and the rivers are still running into the ocean. Almost any day can provide a surprise shower. Temps are ranging from 71 nights to 92 daytime highs. Mostly cloudy days.

Sea Conditions: About half the week is calm and the other half is rough and the trick has been to pick the right fishing days. The fish really do want to bite and it's almost like they are just waiting for the boats and anglers to get on location. The sea temp for the week was taken from "cloud free" satellite images and reflected fairly stable images at 84 degrees.

Best Fishing Area: The offshore fishing started about 5 miles from the entrance to the Bay and was good for most of the calm days, producing some fast action on both, sailfish and dorado. The roosterfish and big jack crevalle are readily available along the white sandy beaches to the south of the Bay.

Bait Supply: Excellent! Plenty of live bait and fresh caught rigging baits available on a daily basis.
