Puerto Morelos continues to be one of the Caribbean "Hot Spots" that offers anglers an opportunity at a wide variety of mixed bag fishing. This past week was a little slow for charters but still allowed for 12 fishing days and resulted in a 9 specie variety that included 1 sailfish, 10 giant Atlantic barracuda, 3 blackfin tuna, 31 dorado, 13 bonito, 2 amberjack, 7 triggerfish, 1 mutton snapper and 2 grouper.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy days with long periods of intermittent sunshine. Temps ranged from 72 nights to 92 daytime highs and surface winds, mostly from the easterly directions, ranged from 5-15 mph.
Sea Conditions: Good, stable water temps that held at 85 degrees throughout the area and offered excellent, crystal clear clarity. Most of the week offered calm conditions with an occasional PM surface whitecap, just enough to stir the fish into action.
Best Bait: The ballyhoo continues to be the daily choice for the anglers and the crew and remains widely available throughout this area.
Bait Supply: Fresh caught ballyhoo are available for the fleet on a daily basis.
