Mazatalan Stripers disappeared coming into the full moon phase and the sailfish took over

The water temps increased this past week and the fishing changed a little, reflecting the warmer water conditions. Oddly, the stripers disappeared coming into the full moon phase and the sailfish took over. Billfish chances remain at the 50% level and should change for the better following the full moon. The overall fish counts in the offshore waters for 15 days reflected 7 sailfish, (3 released). The inshore fishing reflected 5 jack crevalle, 40 red snappers, 69 rock perch and 5 triggerfish for their 4 fishing days aboard the super pangas.
Mazatlan Climate: Still cool mornings & evenings with temps ranging from 54 nights to 87 daytime highs. Partly cloudy days with intermittent periods of sunny, clear skies and westerly surface breezes.
Sea Conditions: Water temps increased to 75 inshore and rising to 76 offshore and overall, very good sea surface conditions prevailed through the week.
Best Fishing Area: All of the sailfish were coming from the warmer waters out to the south of the Marina El Cid, starting at about 18 miles or so and outbound from there.
Best Bait/Lure: The freshly caught & rigged baits were used for all of the sailfish. The inshore fishing was with squid and shrimp for the bottom fish.
