The offshore fishing picked up considerably this past week, especially when compared to the prior week's fishing report, and appears to be rapidly coming back to some normality for this time of year. Usually by the beginning of June we are seeing good catches of sailfish and the annual build-up of the schools of dorado at the buoys, but it has been a little slow getting going for this season. The overall fish counts for 14 days fished in the off-shore waters reflected 1 striper and 9 sailfish, (3 released) and the inshore super pangas reflected 11 dorado and 2 red snapper for their 4 days fished. We expect the fish counts to build with each passing day through all of June and into July.

Mazatlan Climate: Some partly cloudy days but plenty of sunshine and temps that ranged from 68 nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: A southwest surface breeze during the days at 10-15 mph was insufficient to cause sea temp changes that held well at 82 degrees from inshore to offshore waters.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the billfish were landed out to the south to southwest of the Marina El Cid, in the 16-20 mile range.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged trolling baits were best for producing the billfish strikes.

Bait Supply: Remains excellent for the area with ample freshly caught baits for rigging and readily available for live bait at the $1.00 per bait rate.
