The fishing was much improved this past week for anglers fishing from Cabo San Lucas and the marlin bite was providing all boats excellent opportunities for multi fish days. High boat for the week was the "Fish Cabo", skippered by Captain Gil Marquez, releasing 6 stripers for 3 days fishing, followed by the "Gaviota XI", reporting 4 stripers released for 2 days fished. The hot action area continues to be on the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula and in the area of the 1150 fathom spot. The overall combined catches for 17 days fished reflected 22 stripers, (19 released) and 1 dorado for the offshore waters and 2 yellowtail, 12 skipjack, 1 Sierra and 15 roosterfish, (20 to 35 lbs.) for the inshore waters. The westerly winds, typical for May, were blowing pretty hard on the Pacific side and making it unfishable for the yellowtail in the cooler waters.

Cabo Climate: Pleasant evenings and very warm days with temps that ranged from 62 nights to 93 daytime highs and lots of sunshine.

Sea Conditions: The Pacific side remains cooler water with temps from 62-68 degrees that wrap around Cabo to Chileno Bay. From Chileno Bay, (about 8 miles from Cabo on the Sea of Cortez side) the temps increase to 74-76 degrees and continue rising to about 78 degrees at Las Frailes. The westerly winds have been blowing pretty hard on the Pacific side but remain calm on the Sea of Cortez side and especially in the 1150 fathom spot area, where most of the fishing action is taking place.

Best Fishing Area: In the 1150 fathom spot, about 20 miles from the Cabo Harbor.

Best Bait/Lure: There has been good action on both, live bait and artificials and the drop back method has been working perfectly.

Live Bait Supply: Remains plentiful for caballitos at the $3.00 per bait rate.
