The fishing from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo this past week has been as good as it gets and maybe even better

According to Captain Temo Verboonen, owner of the super pangas, "Secuestro De Amor", the fishing is fantastic and the catching is even better for both, inshore and offshore fishing. Following the storms of the past dozen days or so, the water has calmed and the blue water is everywhere. The sailfish are really close, almost within casting distance of the shoreline. The bite starts at about 6 miles from the Bay and is enhanced by the dorado bite. There's a sea line at about 6 miles with trees, logs, and junk stuff that are providing good bait schools and big dorado. Then, the inshore waters, especially in the beach area of Trancones, the roosterfish are bbiting anything that moves in the water. Lots of jack crevalle and bonito in the same areas. The sad part with all this action is the lack of anglers to enjoy it.

IZ Climate: Sunny on Wednesday, but mostly partly cloudy days through the week with temps that ranged from 71 nights to 92 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Terrific is the word! Light & variable surface breezes at 5-10 mph, excellent water temps at 85-86 degrees that extends from the inshore to the offshore, and calm waters with extreme clarity.

Best Fishing Area: Almost anywhere from 6 miles outside the Bay for the billfish and dorado. Trancones beaches for the roosterfish, jack crevalle and bonito.

Best Lure/Bait: Billfish eager on the rigged baits as are the dorado, too. Both are also being taken on artificials without any hesitation on the part of the fish. Same for the inshore roosterfish. Live bait and most anything that moves through the water is fetting bit.

Bait Supply: Excellent! Plenty of live bait and fresh baits for rigging are available everyday.
