According to our "Ace" reporter, Ms. Nayade Gamboa, at the Marina El Cid, in Puerto Morelos, the port had been closed for the entire week and there had been no fish report for the prior week. This week was improved but still there were four days of port closures and only three days of fishing and not too many boats going out. "We had only six boats that fished during the 3 days the port was open and we are slowly getting back to our regular fishing and catching adventures here in Puerto Morelos". During this past week, even with the 4 closed days, we had a 9 species mixed bag fish count that averaged better than 7 fish per boat day fished, including 2 blackfin tuna, 1 Spanish mackerel, 6 Giant barracuda, 29 bonito, 1 grouper, 1 strawberry fish, 1 snapper, 1 grouper and 16 soapfish. "Once our weather settles here in Puerto Morelos, the fishing should come right back to the normal varieties normally seen in our fishing reports".

PM Climate: Partly cloudy days and PM showers, both in the afternoons and nights. Surface winds blowing from the easterly directions from calm to 10 mph. Water temps holding good at 84 degrees throughout the area.

Best Bait: The continuous availability of the ballyhoo in this area provides an outstanding source of freshly caught baits on a daily basis for rigging for the various fish in our area.

Bait Supply: Remains excellent, even with the full moon phase passing. The ballyhoo supply continues to be readily available for the boats going fishing and continues to be the bait of choice.
