The billfish catching inched its way up this past week and indicated that the stubborn biters may have finally eased up and started to cooperate? High billfish boat for the week was the "Gaviota IX", skippered by Captain Julio Torres, reporting in with 6 stripers and 1 sailfish, (all released) for 5 days fishing. It was an unusually interesting fishing week for the boats with a really good day that could easily be followed by a very bad day, fishing in the same spot for both days. This past week saw lots of billfish in many locations that ranged from Cabo Falso to Cabeza de Ballena, (Gray Rock) out to the 95 fathom spot and on to the 1150 fathom spot and inward toward the Palmilla Ridge. The overall combined fish counts for 19 days fished reflected 18 stripers, (16 released) 2 sailfish (released) and 2 dorado.

Cabo Climate: Mostly a sunny, warm and clear week for Cabo, with a few passing clouds and temps that ranged from 63 nights to 90 daytime highs. As good as it gets weather.

Sea Conditions: The Pacific side warmed up a few degrees. The Golden Gate, south, past the Jaime Bank, and out to the 1000 fathom curve and in toward Cabo Falso, held at 77 degrees. From Cabo Falso and easterly, into the Sea of Cortez, temps ranged from 78-81 degrees. Surface breezes were mostly from the easterly directions from calm to 14 mph.

Best Fishing Area: The 1150 fathom spot remained the best but fish were caught all over.

Best Bait/Lure: Fish were preferring the live bait but a few fish were taken on the lures.

Live Bait Supply: Live bait was readily available at the $3.00 per bait rate.
