The unusually warm waters out front of Mazatlan, have yet to provide the black & blue marlin, but the sailfish continue to provide some lighter tackle action for the few offshore fishing trips. There were only five offshore fishing days for the past week and that is hardly enough to provide a good insight to the sportfishing opportunities for this area. The overall fish counts for those days fished reflected 4 sailfish, (1 released) and 6 dorado for the offshore waters, along with 1 mako shark and 23 dorado for the three inshore super panga fishing days.

Mazatlan Climate:/b> Mostly cloudy days with intermittent sunshine and even an occasional scattered shower. Air temps varied from 75 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:/b> Inshore temps stable at 88 and gradually rising to 90 degrees in the offshore waters. Surface breezes to 14 mph, flowing in from varied directions through the week. Very fishable conditions for the entire area.

Best Fishing Area:/b> None was reported. However, the boats fished in the area southwest of the Marina El Cid that varied from about 17 to 25 miles offshore.

Best Bait/Lure:/b> The sailfish were all taken on the freshly rigged trolling baits.

Bait Supply:/b> Remained plentiful for both, fresh rigging baits to live bait. Live bait is sold at $1.00 per bait paid direct to the bait vendor.
