On Feb. 2, the ice had receded enough that there was enough open water near the inlet to fish from the shore. Some anglers reported fair fishing for small trout by using worms and rainbow salmon eggs under a bobber from the parking lot. There is still some ice on the reservoir, but it is very thin and unstable. We do not recommend venturing out on the ice. If the weather stays warm the entire lake will be open water very soon.
