THE CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING REPORT FOR THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND FISH CABO FLEET
Well, it's another week of very little fishing information from Cabo San Lucas, and it appears that any substantial information surrounding the sale of the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet continues to be on hold for now, pending many decisions by the new owners. As of this report, Cortez Yacht Charters continues to have access to all of the Gaviota Fleet's sportfishers and we are now working on a new and reliable fish report source. The report for this past week for fishing reflected a combined total or 13 days fished that reflected 8 stripers, (7 released) 2 dorado, 5 skipjack tuna and 13 Sierra. The "Gaviota X" and the "Fish Cabo" both reflected two stripers each, released, for 2 days fished and tying for high boats.
Cabo Climate: Air temperatures varied from 66 nights to 89 daytime highs and a 34% average humidity level. It was a week of partly cloudy days and mixed sunshine with overall very good weather.
Sea Conditions: On the Pacific side, from Golden Gate Bank to Jaime Bank, all at 76-78 degrees. A pocket of cold water from Cristobal to Cabo Falso and southerly for about 15 miles at 70-71 degrees. Cabo San Lucas to Chileno and out to the 95 fathom spot at 75-76. Palmilla Ridge to Los Frailes, including Gorda Banks and Cabrillo Seamount at 76-77. Surface breezes flowing in from the westerly directions and varied from near calm to about 16 mph.
Best Fishing Area: The best fishing area continues to be at Cabo Falso area, where 7 of the 8 billfish were caught.
Best Bait/Lure: Live baits and rigged baits were equally working well but the edge was with the live bait drop back.
Live Bait Supply: Excellent live bait supply, mostly caballitos, at the $3.00 per bait rate.
