According to our on location reporter for Zihuatanejo, Captain Temo Verboonen, the fishing remains very good, especially for the sailfish but the marlin have moved for now. However, the offshore fishing is not very far off, as the water blues up almost immediately right outside the entrance to the Bay. A few boats fished the inshore area by Valentin River, and had good catches on the roosterfish. We had our first rain today but the weather forecast says we will probably have some on-off showers for the next week but without any wind, other than the typical and normal tropical surface breezes in this area. What is mostly needed right now is more anglers to enjoy our good fishing for the inshore and offshore waters.
IZ Climate: Air temp varied from 75 nights to 91 daytime high and a 70% humidity level. It was a mostly cloudy week with an occasional peek at the sunshine and the beginning of our rainy season, especially for the late afternoons. Right now, we have scattered thundershowers predicted everyday thru June 5, 2015, but almost no breeze/wind to go with the rains.
Sea Conditions: Excellent, warm and clean blue waters with temps that are holding at 84-85 degrees for inshore to offshore. Surface breezes from almost nonexistent to about 8 mph flowing from varied directions.
Best Fishing Areas: Offshore begins just a few miles outside the entrance to the Bay with very clean water everywhere, right up to the shoreline. Valentin River area producing the roosterfish right now.
Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits continue o work very well for the sailfish and the live bait is best or the roosterfish.
Bait Supply: The bait supply remains in perfect shape with excellent fresh baits for rigging, provided with each charter, and live bait at the rate of $5.00 per dozen.
