Ice fishing conditions have improved. The snow atop the ice is firming up, allowing machines to get out without too much difficulty, however, another storm is expected which will change conditions in places. Use caution. An ice safety guide is available here. Anglers are still going to be fighting about a foot of slush out on the ice, but areas where the snow has been tracked are firmed up and keeping anglers out of the slush. Strawberry Bay Marina staff are reporting 6 to 10 inches of ice around the marina. White and pink-colored paddle bugs tipped with nightcrawler are producing rainbow trout and cutthroat trout. The roads and parking areas are now plowed, so anglers should have a good weekend on the ice.
