It appears that the sailfish season may have started a couple of
months early this past week at Puerto Morelos, with the boats
returning with 4 sailfish and reports of several more strikes. May
is usually the beginning off the peak months for the sailfish season,
but the skippers and anglers are very optimistic with the week's
results. The overall fish counts for a total of 16 days fished
resulted in 4 sailfish, 4 Atlantic barracuda, 5 king mackerel, 21
triggerfish, 15 bonito, 15 grouper and 15 red snapper.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy but warm days with temps from 64 nights
to 87 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: A little bumpy weather this week with surface winds
up to 18 knots. Sea temps were good and holding at 79 and the
clarity was superb.
Best Bait: Continues to be the rigged and un-rigged ballyhoo.
